MDA wins a further contract for AM5 and AM6 with Russia

Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that it has signed a contract in excess of $45 million (USD) with the Russian Radio Research and Development Institute (NIIR).

MDA will provide key sub-systems to be incorporated into the advanced information solutions previously announced in November 2009 for the Express AM5 and Express AM6 satellites.

Dr. Marc Donato, a vice president within MDA's Information Systems group said, ‘MDA was proud to participate in the Quebec mission to Russia in December 2009, hosted by Quebec’s Premier Jean Charest, and to contribute in building a closer economic tie with Russia. We are committed to establish a solid, long term relationship with NIIR and to further develop bilateral relations between the Province of Québec and Russia.’
